Cobbles Without Quibbles

Hi, reader. I wrote this in 2008 and it's now more than five years old. So it may be very out of date; the world, and I, have changed a lot since I wrote it! I'm keeping this up for historical archive purposes, but the me of today may 100% disagree with what I said then. I rarely edit posts after publishing them, but if I do, I usually leave a note in italics to mark the edit and the reason. If this post is particularly offensive or breaches someone's privacy, please contact me.

I am still on cloud nine from our visit to Boston. Not only did I reconnect with Mel, Mika, Mako, Aaron, and general relaxation. Not only did Julia and Moss spend quality and quantity time with us, and introduce us to the classic hidden-gem Prose restaurant in Arlington, and drive us around. Moss and Julia also conspired with Leonard and two of their area friends to throw a surprise birthday picnic for me in the Boston Common Garden! Either I'm really gullible or they're good at kind deception. I'm definitely lucky to have such kind and sneaky friends.

They also got a few of Leonard's blog friends to come and picnic with us, including the Twittering Kirk Israel (interesting story about his last name) and the handsome and utterly charming Ned Batchelder. OMG squee! Photos to come soon in case you don't believe me. [Update: believe!]

We'd been meaning to visit Boston for years. This was perfect. Thank you all.

Thanks for coming - and for the facepaint and the books! (They really do say to use a stick of butter in everything, except for the recipes that call for half a stick of butter.)

And a belated happy birthday!

Great meeting you!

Heh, in the Panorama photos I'm amused at having the same pose in both, though I guess that's rather the point.

Funny, looks like I hadn't put my name story on my website. (Unfortunately I've found I have to spin carefully, lest I inadvertently come across as antisemitic rather than just mildly misleadingly named...)

Many happy returns of the day!

Happy birthday, apparently!

Huh, for some reason the feed isn't coming through for me, so I didn't see this until just now. We were happy to have you here. Yay for Sumana! And Leonard! And surprises!
