More Kicks From the Baby Name Wizard Voyager

Hi, reader. I wrote this in 2006 and it's now more than five years old. So it may be very out of date; the world, and I, have changed a lot since I wrote it! I'm keeping this up for historical archive purposes, but the me of today may 100% disagree with what I said then. I rarely edit posts after publishing them, but if I do, I usually leave a note in italics to mark the edit and the reason. If this post is particularly offensive or breaches someone's privacy, please contact me.

Today some del.icio.us poking-around led me back to the Voyager.

  • Would you rather be a girl named Adah or a boy named Adan?
  • A boy named Carmine or a girl named Princess?
  • A boy named Spurgeon or General?
  • A girl named Yesenia or Yessenia?
  • Tyler or Kyler?
  • Nevada, Neva, or Nevaeh?
  • A boy named Fate or a boy named Destin?
  • A girl named Filomena or a boy named Keven?
  • Donte, Donta, or Dontae?
  • A girl named Joe or a boy named Mary?
  • Despite my perception of Robin, Sandy, and Dana as unisex names, they trend overwhelmingly female.
  • Quincy, Jefferson, and Jackson are getting more popular; Lyndon & Garfield, not so much.
  • Pranav is a popular boys' name now? How did this slip by me?
