Day Of The Lurkers

Hi, reader. I wrote this in 2007 and it's now more than five years old. So it may be very out of date; the world, and I, have changed a lot since I wrote it! I'm keeping this up for historical archive purposes, but the me of today may 100% disagree with what I said then. I rarely edit posts after publishing them, but if I do, I usually leave a note in italics to mark the edit and the reason. If this post is particularly offensive or breaches someone's privacy, please contact me.

If you and I have never met in person, but you read my blog, please leave a comment on this post to say hello!

For example, if you're the person who thoughtfully sent me Yevgeny Zamyatin's We, or you're the Bob Smith who knew the lyrics to "Bon Anniversaire", please accept my thanks and take a bow.

Hello!

Got to you from Leonard, from Brendan's links (my college roommate forced^H^H^H^H^H^Hstrongly encouraged me to check out Anacrusis).

Your archives and columns helped me while away many down times when I was a student.

Also, since this post has been up for more than a day now and it looks like no one else has commented, your lurkers appear to be quite determined to remain quiescent (spell check says... got it right the first time).

You may be dimly aware of the existence of some lunatic who ported your husband's delightful game "robotfindskitten" to the Commodore 64. That was me. Hello.

I... like your blog? For a long time I used to just check it occasionally by physically visiting your page, but now it is in my RSS reader.
