Finished With Commencement

Hi, reader. I wrote this in 2008 and it's now more than five years old. So it may be very out of date; the world, and I, have changed a lot since I wrote it! I'm keeping this up for historical archive purposes, but the me of today may 100% disagree with what I said then. I rarely edit posts after publishing them, but if I do, I usually leave a note in italics to mark the edit and the reason. If this post is particularly offensive or breaches someone's privacy, please contact me.

Tonight my husband and sister and mom watched me cross the stage to the tune of the worst mispronunciation of my name in all my graduations ever. Who cares! Then, the ritziest freaking reception ever, with live music and a risotto bar. The difference between an Ivy and a state school, apparently.

I'm done, I'm done, now I just have to actually believe it and get back on my Python lessons, AltLaw work, Miro testing, exercise, internal improvement, writing portfolio collection and upkeep, correspondence, and all the other stuff I've been putting off till May 21st, 2008.

Congratulations, Master Sumana! I'd never even heard of a risotto bar.

YAY SUMANA! Everyone has to call you Master now. It's the law.

Congratulations! Now you just have to choose whether you want to be a Master of the Universe, Master of generally everything, or some other variant on 'Master'. How else will you know what to put on your cape?

Yay for finishing, and I hope that you build in some slothful free time for yourself, at least a little.

Yay, congratulations!!

I would have expected a spot-on pronunciation of your name. The high cost of tuition should have extended beyond the ritziness of the reception.

+1 on the slothful free time, o Master! Congratulations and happy trails with all the catching-up on the putting-off stuff.

May your education bring you many happy years of useful service (and lots of money to pay off loans with).
